A Sierra Vista Voices of Thunder typical meeing.
Our meetings begin with a pot luck supper. Our host provides the main dish and everyo else can bring an alternate main dish, salad, dessert. Whatever you want. We then have a VERY a short business session which helps members learn basic meeting procedures. Then there is the presentation of prepared speeches. Three or more members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals or Advanced manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion.
Offering constructive evaluation. We then do round robin constructive evaluations of each speaker where we point out the speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement. We also end the evaluation on a positive note. We call it the Oreo method (positive strength, improvement, positive).
